By the way, do you like modifications for games or do you like playing the vanilla build of a particular game? Personally, I am often if I find an interesting game with the possibility of reiglable, I can throw a couple of small or vice versa, very fat modifications.
For those who are not in the subject, I will explain. There are many types of modifications for games. Resins of weapons, armor, tools, the surrounding world and so on. There are mods that add content to the game, among them there are, like small ones, by the type of mods for also weapons, as well as larger, such as fashion for new quests and locations in games. But there are more serious modifications that are fundamentally changing the game – I’m talking about global mods, many of which can rightfully be considered separate games. After all, they change not only the scene or filling of the game, they bring changes to the plot of the original. One of these modifications today in our review.
This creation is a modal2 game. And it was developed by a small Fan Studio Resurrection Studios and was released on November 13, 2006. A little later, this mod began to officially spread along with the original game. The guys from this team also worked on the mods to the original doom, Land of the Dead and, suddenly, Tes IV: Oblivion. However, the matter did not go beyond the plans. And in fact the only finished modification is Eternal Damnation.
Before starting a story about plot information, I want to clarify something. The game was not localized in Russian, it does not have a full-fledged Russian page with a plot on the same Wikipedia (it is on Lurke), and since I am friends with English, it is likely that I could misunderstand some information, but the main and key plot moments will be conveyed safe and preserved.
In ED we play for a boxer named John Murray. Well, the game starts with a small katsen on the game engine, in which they explain to us, but what is going on here. And the following happens: our main character defended his girlfriend, which was attacked by a maniac pervert. It would seem that it may go wrong? We remember that GG is a boxer. Naturally, he worships the offender Lule. And not weak. John is tearing off the roof. He simply clogs the poor fellow to death, for which he goes to the psychiatric hospital in which he conducts…. and who knows how much he stayed in her? In general, our game begins from here.
First of all, John needs to somehow get out, but by the will of the chance in the hospital, a riot begins, which makes it possible to escape the chiefheror. But where should he go? Home? “OK” says GG and … and goes straight to his girlfriend. On the way there are purely-Postal’s, if I may say so, events in which John may not participate. Either the local guys from the street gang will attack, then the forces of the valiant special forces will decide to cover the stash, but everything will go one place, and as a result, both sides (both bandits and special forces) will nightmare the chiefheror. But not his girlfriend, no. Getting out of the house where Lori lives, so the name, now the former girl John, is an accident, as a result of which GG enters the hospital. Again. True, now this is an ordinary hospital. Although no. There are no ordinary places in this city. But I will talk about locations later. Leaving the hospital, John returns home. However, there he is overtaken by a call from the shepherd from the local church, and asks Murray to come to him in a very urgent and important matter.

It is worth noting that we cannot just take and run all the locations as it was in Postal 2. The level of levels resembles the first Postal, where on locations it was necessary to perform certain actions. True, if in the first part of the game we, managing a dude, killed a certain number of people and only after that we could go to the next level, then in ED we have some kind of diversity. Then they will not open the gate until we neutralize the next bandits, and by “neutral” I mean-“destroy”, the desired lever is in the main office, in which we make our way through tons of blown up boots, then … although you know, in fact, we only need to exterminate someone to exterminate someone. True, this is very interesting, often.
On the path of overcoming the difficulties arising on the way to withdrawal from the city, we learn that a real zombie apocalypse has come and now we will have the main opponents. And there will be a lot of them. And they are terrible. And the terrible why? We are all accustomed to the fact that often zombies are clumsy, rotten pieces of meat that can be relatively safely exterminated. But not here. The developers deliberately took such a step. You must be attentive to survive. You must be a well -aimed to survive. You must constantly move to survive.
So about the plot. Crowds of undead do not interfere with GG to get out of this suburbs and get to the church. Having reached here, John meets Winston and asks to deal with a small problem in the church. Lori also turns out to be here, in the behavior of which there are small oddities. In addition, the player is already attending certain thoughts about what is happening. Nevertheless, we are sent for another mission to strip.
Having dealt with the Horde, we are opening the next passage, and there … the first boss. It is killed simply enough. Therefore, we move on.
And then we are revealed a piece of the background, or rather, something from the life of John Murray. Upon returning to church, Lori “run into” to John, they say he threw her … again. Why again? It turns out that a little boy in childhood took his father from the city, and Lori was sent to a shelter. How it happened? We will learn from a conversation with John’s father himself. We are heading to him.

To which the father replies that Lori, who was in the care of Father Winston, was not raped by such a “holy” father. The one, as it turned out, is a pedophile. John’s noble from such revelations, and he is going to kill Winston. To go back to church, John decides to go to the subway, where he is taken by surprise. She, with the help of her demonic forces, wants to send a whole train to hell with John.
She almost succeeds, but John still survives. The following is not a very interesting adventure on the locations of the game in which we just roll zombies. Along the way we are met by another boss. Super-mega-Ogromny boss zombies! But don’t be deceived. It is mighty easier than ordinary zombies. I don’t know, this is a shortage of the game, or specifically I had such a failure, but the zombak refused to attack me. He just stood in his hands with a gun and watched me shot him. Which, in fact, is strange, because then the moment will happen where the Zombies-Species will still attack with firearms.
Having overcome the leader, we, together with the GG, get to the church, where John begins to quite reasonably blame Winston’s father of atrocities in relation to Laurie. To which Winston denies everything and puts us all the terrible truth. And the truth is that he was just a pawn in the hands of a demon, who got into a little girl Laurie at that time. Winston’s father tried to conduct a rite of exorcism, but he was interfered, and the ceremony was not completed. And now we, in the person of John Murray, have to complete everything. It is here and it gets in place. Lori’s strange behavior when meeting her in an apartment and church, the emergence of revived dead and other evil spirits. Thus, we discover for ourselves that all this was part of the Devil plan, because with the help of Lori and the Divine book “Eternal Curse”, he was going to return to Earth. Following these conclusions there is a dialogue with an awakened demonia in the person of Laurie. Well, and we have the last battle for the earth.

While we are breaking through the Little Army of the Dead, Laurie manages to finish the ceremony of calling the devil, sacrificing the father of the protagonist. And now we must remove this "eternal curse". And to do this, you need to kill the boss. Again.
Having dealt with the feces of hell, John returns home. There he also pushes a farewell speech that he could not protect his love and will not be able to live without it anymore, ending with suicide life. The screen darkens … and we hear Laurie’s voice: "John, we will meet …"
This ends the plot of this modification.
In fact, this modification is a regular shooter with a first -person view. Linear and straight. It should not be expected from him any new mechanic, bringing diversity, but it is worth noting that something new was still brought. Remember how in the second, we fired we shot from weapons without steaming for reloading. Here, the developers updated the arsenal, adding both the recharge of each gunshot gun and alternative types of shooting, whether it is single or automatic shots. There is an alternative to cold weapons. Although it was in the original Postal2. It will not work a lot about gameplay and it will not work, because all we do is running and shooting. However, I will dwell on weapons a little more. After all, what could be more important in the shooter than weapons? And here there is a lot of it. I emphasize – a lot. Since the mod was based for the most part on the SHARE THE PIN, which added all sorts of things to the original, many models were borrowed and processed in ED. But the new one was enough.

In the Eternal Damnation you will not see weapons or models of bodies from the original, everything here is. New characters, new weapons, new terrible zombies and so on. Playing this mod is quite interesting precisely because there was a mechanic of dismemberment and murder of a zombie, which got out of the Apocalypse Weekend complement. That is, it is not enough to chop off the head of the zombak. It will have to completely destroy it. This adds speakers to what is happening, because it is very easy not to notice how one of the corpses has lost his head in the heat of the battle and is now rushing behind you as insane, and now you can’t do anything to him, because where his head remained, try to remember. Good if he is alone, and if there are three, five, or ten!? Then this is already turning into a Czech with the search for the “fighting off” heads. It is fun or not to decide. Especially if we take into account the fact that all the zombies learned to run quickly.
I almost forgot to talk about the complexity of the game. Well, it’s normal. Not hardcore, although some locations were forced to reproduce. And yes, the difficulty in this game does not change. No way. Absolutely. Maybe if you try to dig into the game files, you can find something related to complexity, but I was too lazy to do it.
Atmosphere of this game to match the genre. She is depressing, stretching, especially in the early stages of the game. She stucks the desire to run forward without looking back. Thus, the player is imbued with the alarm of John Murrey, who spent not a short time in the Psychychek. At the later stages, when the game accelerates to a meat shooter about zombies, the atmosphere changes to a more drive, although in places it is not particularly clear, because the music of the felts does not turn on, the felts turn on with delay, causing a dissonance with what is happening on the screen. Nevertheless, the developers understood that for a long time such running around could not continue and give the player a break from time to time. So that we take a break from the bacchanalia in the game, we are given a couple of tiny locations on which we now pull the desired lever, then we click on a couple of buttons to open the gate.
Of course, for a complete immersion, I recommend going through this game at night, preferably in a separate room, if you live more than one.
Earlier I mentioned musical accompaniment. Let the embosses on some locations are not always appropriate, but when it becomes to match what is happening, there is a catharsis in the ears. This is especially noticeable at the level of the train, in the first location of the psychiatric hospital and of course in the final battle with the boss. Well, and the title topic that sets the tone for the game right on the menu is just great. By the way, the music was written separately for the game. The guys from the Neurological group are responsible for this. True, it didn’t go further than tracks to fashion. There is a possibility that this group consists of a resourrection studio at all.
In general, the locations are not very mapped. There are Kishko -shaped corridors here, which we should occasionally run again to open the door locked on the other end of the map. There are small rooms to translate the spirit. There are levels in the sewage system, which was a certain trend during the release of the game. Well, the main feature of almost all the locations of the game is darkness, silence and atmospheric embibio. Now I will go briefly on some locations.
The first location that meets us, of course, is the Happy Hill psychiatric. It’s hard to say something special about her. Gray corridors, dull flickering light. Prisoners’ rooms in which you can look. And sometimes you need. After all, almost every of them has its own small, albeit cheap screamer. But not everywhere. In general, walking along the corridors, you can imbue the mental state of the protagonist, because on the way to the exit, he will now and then come across patients with different, sometimes terrible, deviations. With all this, John himself will overcome nightmares in reality. Which ones? You will see for yourself when you play.
The following are two frankly empty cities. However, the house in which the girlfriend of the Glaveroye lives is quite interesting in that each apartment in which we can enter is worked out in detail, despite the fact that some of the time we simply run these places.
Another interesting location can be called another hospital. Here, already from the moment of loading on the card, we hear children’s laughter, which comes from where. We will not find the source of this sound, however, this detail, and several other things, are imposed on the idea that this is not a simple hospital. Experiments were put on patients. And when the mess began, many patients either escaped or were killed by medical staff.
A little more interesting is the situation with the town in which the main character lives. Here the game gives us the opportunity to rest a little and relax. To study local references and Easter ladies, of which there are many. The house of the protagonist can reveal his character in more detail. Even in spite of long abandonment, this place is as much as possible on a house in which a boxer who had gone could live. In addition, heading to church, we pass a small retail space on which traces of the residence of the revived dead are already visible. There are closed stalls and cafeteria, in which there is not a single soul, upturned tables and other riots.

The church is more like an absurd theater. Here is a huge museum of everything that can be imagined, and underground catacombs with incomprehensible cripples, there is still no trait here because of flickering light. This location does not scare its gloomy, it annoys more with its stupidity. The only thing that saves her is the finale. After all, it is in the final that we will fight inside the church. It already looks more here that we are in the church, and not in any horror room.
Another dull location can be called an entertainment park where we get to meet with John’s father. In the park itself, of course, there is where to “walk around”, but abroad and longing beyond. Continuous mountains and gorges. And yet, when we leave this “wonderful land”, the game meets us, in my modest opinion, the best location in the game.
Languing city, full of traces of recent massacre with the dead. Broken shop windows. Inverted police cars. The cries of people who run away in a panic are heard somewhere. Embish of the damned city. Walking along these streets, it is clear that the developers wanted to show how a city that sinking in madness, despair and death might look like. On this short segment of the game you will not meet crowds of zombies. After all, they all went further, deep into the town.
The best location in fashion
This, in fact, is the most memorable locations in the game. Until the last battle, the player will roam mainly along the intestinal intestinal tunnels, a vertical and almost unlutured labyrinth of a supermarket, and an almost completely open reserve with a zombie boss.
This mod is not without flaws. There are bugs, and departures, and flaws on locations, but in general, you don’t expect much from a small team of developers who have made such a global mod that it itself Running with Scissors accepted and added as an official, albeit user, addition. The modification should be studied for the overall development and understanding of how and should be made of mods. In addition, the Eternal Damnation passes in just 2-3 hours, depending on the desire to examine everything. The main thing is that even after a few years, namely, that was so much since my last launch of this modification, I went with pleasure again for review. Because it is interesting to play it because of music, weapons and gameplay in general, locations, albeit sometimes empty, because of the atmosphere and some kind of plot. However, those who are clearly not in the frets with English, I can’t recommend this mod, since most of the Laura and the essence of the game will pass by.
